Day Services
Eden Valley Hospice
The Margaret Dunne Day Hospice Centre provides facilities at Eden Valley
Hospice, for patients with identified referral criteria. Varied therapeutic
and social activities are provided, including nursing and medical
assessment, counselling, spiritual care, complementary therapies and social
work support. It can currently take up to 10 patients per day. Transport is
available but is limited mainly to the Carlisle area. If patients beyond
this area are able to organise their own transport then attendance may be
possible. The Day Hospice operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and
Fridays, from 10.00am to 3.30 pm (except bank holidays).

Penrith Day Hospice
Penrith Day Hospice offers the opportunity for assessment and review of the
patient to be undertaken and provides a range of physical, psychological and
social interventions within the context of interaction, mutual support and
friendship.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria Living for Today Programme for Patients
or Carers
Aims to offer holistic support to groups of patients or carers where there
has been a diagnosis of a non-curable illness. In a central location in West
Cumbria.
Each programme consists of 6 weekly sessions, each lasting 3 hours. The
first part of the programme focuses on practical support followed by more
therapeutic interventions. The programme is run by a hospice doctor, day
services leader and health care assistant, with input from the specialist
palliative care team including volunteers, occupational therapy and
educational staff.

Hospice at Home
Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland
The service provides practical nursing care and support to patients with
palliative care needs within the community setting. Care can be provided by
day or night or a combination of both. A complementary therapy service is
available for patient and carers.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria
Mission Statement:- To ensure that the people of West CUmbria receive the
best possible palliative and end of life care.
Aims:-
- To enable patients whose illness is progressive and unlikely to be curable to be cared for at home and to die at home if that is their choice.
- To provide all the services, traditionally found in a Hospice building, to people in their own homes and communities.
- To continue support into bereavement.
- To work collaboratively and in partnership with all local providers of end of life care, including NHS Cumbria and North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust.
- To provide all services free of charge.
- To safeguard the financial health of the charity to ensure that it is able to provide the appropriate services into the future.
- To recruit suitable staff and volunteers and support them through training and education.
The service is registered with The Care Quality Commission.

Inpatient Services
Eden Valley Hospice
Eden Valley Hospice has a 12 bedded in patient unit for adults, where
patients are admitted for symptom control, end of life care or respite care.
Patients are cared for by a team which includes nursing and medical staff,
family support staff and occupational therapist.

Eden House is a five bedded Children's Hospice providing overnight respite, end of life care, day care and family support. Macmillan Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialists
Client Group includes patients, their families and carers who have cancer, and other progressive, life-threatening conditions with a likely prognosis of less than 6 months.
They offer specialist information and advice on disease and treatment and information and advice on social & practical resources.
They also offer specialist advice or support to other health care professionals as well as advice on physical symptoms, which are not responding to current management and specialist support for social, psychological, emotional & spiritual needs.
